Evaluations
Junior Music Experience Evaluations are held in the Spring and Fall of each year. The most recent Evaluations were on April 28, 2012 in five locations around the Greater Cincinnati area. The next JME Evaluations are scheduled for April 27, 2013. The registration fee per student is $25.

Entries must be submitted by participating teachers. Registration begins February 18 and the deadline for registration for the upcoming Evaluation is March 15, 2013. If you are a student who would like to participate in a JME Evaluation, please ask your teacher to contact JME for information.

Evaluations last approximately 15 minutes. Participants are evaluated on musical criteria appropriate to the curricular format of their lessons: how well they play and — according to the student’s experience — including timing, dynamics, accuracy and fingering.

Students are not judged on the style of music they play. The Directors believe that all forms of music should be encouraged — classical, popular, religious, country, rock, jazz and so on. Students receive a written evaluation in each of the competency areas with appropriate comments from the judge, who also awards an over-all score of one to five points. Each participant will also receive a ribbon representing their point total (5 / Superior, 4 / Excellent, 3 / Very Good, 2 / Good, and 1 / Fair) as well as a personalized certificate.

- Participants who earn a Superior rating can be recommended for an additional award at the discretion of their judge. In addition, students who continue their music education and enter more than one JME evaluation can accumulate points to earn additional awards.

Awards Ceremonies
Awards are presented at semi-annual Awards Ceremonies. Featured performers include some of the participants who have earned a special JME award.
One of JME’s primary objectives is to encourage participants to continue their study of music. JME takes extra pleasure in rewarding students who persevere in their efforts.

The Spring Awards Ceremony will be held June 07, 2013 at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 2551 Dixie Highway, Lakeside Park, KY 41017. Check-in time: 6:45 p.m. The ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m. with an Honors Recital.
Please Note: STUDENTS WILL NOT RECEIVE A LETTER—IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE TEACHER TO NOTIFY THEIR STUDENTS OF THE AWARDS CEREMONY INFORMATION.
